写真家、北井一夫の回顧展「いつか見た風景」＠東京都写真美術館。

とっても良かった。私の生まれる前の日本の、田舎や郊外の人々の写真等が２０５点展示されています。彼によると、古き良き日本は１９７０年代に消えてしまったという。それを自分の目で見ていない私に、彼の写真は強く語りかけた。こんな日本もあったんだよ、と。中でも映画「トトロ」を思い出させるような古民家や素朴な姉妹の写真はとても印象的だった。

街は変わり、人も変わる。言葉も変われば、行動や習慣、文化も変わり続ける。そんな中、ある光景を切り取った写真はフィルムに焼き付けられ、ずっと残っていく。

写真を見るということは、どこか夜空を見上げることと似ている。数百光年前の光を、現在の私が受け取るように、過去のある一瞬の光がフィルムに焼き付けられたものを、現在の私が見て、思いを巡らせる。写真を見るという体験を少し違って捉えるようになった展示だった。

他にも、成田空港建設反対のデモがあった三里塚の写真や全学連運動当時の写真など、日本の社会運動に深く入り込んで撮った彼の写真を見て、思ったことがあった。優れた写真家は写真家である以前に社会を見る眼がはっきりとしている。写真には、撮る人の美意識だけでなく、社会的立場や物事への視線も映り込むし、そういったものを含んだ写真こそ、個性があり、際立つ作品になるのだと。

本当にこの展示、行ってよかったです。皆さまも是非！

Black and White Film

These are some of my first photos that I printed myself in the darkroom at school in 2010. Printing in the darkroom was so much fun that I could spend all day in there trying to get the right images.

Recently I just realized that my beloved software Adobe Lightroom's name is derived from Darkroom. Haha, I like their naming. (It's pretty obvious and I don't know why I didn't realize it until just recently...)

The model is my friend Ayaka. Very cool, pretty, and sexy girl who loves fashion. We did photo shoot together for a few times in Palm Desert, Indio, and Palm Springs.

I hope to get a chance to photograph her again.

２年ほど前に、初めて自分で現像した写真の中からいくつか載せました。

暗室で作業するのはあまりにも楽しくて、これ！という一枚ができるまで、

時間を忘れて一日中暗室にこもって印刷作業をしていました。

モデルは友達のあやか。とってもクールでありながらかわいらしさ、セクシーさも持つ、ファッションが大好きな女の子。アメリカで何回かいろんな所に行って写真を撮らせてもらったのは本当にいい思い出。またこっちでも撮れたらいいな。
